Deborah L. Carlson, PhD, is an audiology consultant following her retirement as Director of Audiology and Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at The University of Texas Medical Branch in 2023. Her career spans private practice, the VA Medical Center system, and more than three decades in academic medicine.
Dr. Carlson has served at state and national levels, including leadership roles with the American Academy of Audiology and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, contributing to work in licensure, accreditation, coding and reimbursement, standards and quality of care, financial planning, infant hearing screening, ethics, and clinical education. She is a founding member and past president of the Texas Academy of Audiology and a past president of the American Academy of Audiology.
Dr. Carlson brings this depth of leadership and operational insight to consulting. Using a collaborative approach, Dr. Carlson translates vision into actionable solutions to enhance patient care, provider experience, and long-term program success.
