Dr. Kristine Sonstrom Malowski is a research audiologist, animal scientist, and the owner of FETCHLAB of New England, LLC. Her primary interests include understanding the manifestations of noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) and injury to the auditory and vestibular systems using diagnostic tools and investigating measures to mitigate these risks in human and animal populations. She established normative hearing data for military working dogs and for puppies susceptible to congenital deafness. Kristine was an Associate Professor for the Northeast Ohio Au.D. Consortium for seven years, where she researched methods to mitigate NIHL in law enforcement and K-9 handlers, started FETCHLAB Akron, and investigated pharmaceutical interventions for NIHL for the Army. In 2022, she transitioned to support the DoD at the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory, where she studies the effectiveness of hearing protection and communication devices in operational environments and the bioeffects of underwater sound and hyperbaric exposure on military personnel.
